Do you need a business auto insurance policy? Unfortunately, the Businessowners Policy (BOP) doesn’t cover vehicles; a separate policy is needed. The Business Auto Cover Form is the policy that we offer at Salt Lake Business Insurance, which also covers trucks, vans, trailers, and other types of vehicles used on the road. Each vehicle that you use for business can be listed on the policy along with any other type of corresponding coverage. This means that you can select different coverage for the different vehicles that are used in your business, as they relate to the characteristics and coverage needed.
Do You Need a Business Auto Policy?
One of the first things that our broker will discuss with you, in detail, is how you use your business vehicle. They will need to know who drives them and if the vehicles are owned by you, rented, or leased. Finally, they will need to know if you and your employees will also use your vehicles for work, as it relates to your business. They can properly advise you on which type of business auto policy is best suited to your needs based on your responses to these questions.
Which Vehicles Are Covered?
The coverage can be broad or narrow, which is based on your choices. It may be written only to apply to one vehicle. In a broad sense, the policy might be written to apply to the insurer’s liability exposure, which may arise from the use of any of your business vehicles. There are three choices to choose from for the vehicles you cover:
1. Every auto your business hires, leases, or owns
2. Autos owned by your business
3. All autos that are used for business, including those that are NOT owned, leased or hired
Physical Damage Coverage
There are three types of physical damage coverage to consider for motor vehicles: comprehensive, specified perils, and collision
